That's one lap.
Sometime last week, I realized that it had been a whole year since I started this little space. Wow.
I'm not sure there's much, aside from child-rearing and marriage, that I've ever stuck to for a whole year before. (Well there was the eighties hairdo, but in my defense, it was the eighties.)
carolyndraws.com began as a way for me to transition between life as an art director in advertising to life as an art director with an illustration portfolio. (Thanks, Mom and Amy, for visiting most days and emailing to see if I was dead when I didn't post.)
Here I am, 364 days and almost 100 drawings later.
If you're new here ... welcome aboard! Visit often as I'm wearing out markers putting together lots of surprises for the coming year. To come? Greeting cards and all kinds of goodies.
If you've been here since Day One, a big thank you and I owe you a cupcake.

onour of the Big Day, I'm holding my very first GIVEAWAY!

If you don't have a clue what I should draw next either, leave a comment telling me something else. Something you won't mind my mother reading.

Small request: thank-you cards! With some sort of a generic non-offensive drawing on them and some text that would be appropriate for both grandmothers and dear friends. I never seem to have enough thank-you cards lying around. Congrats on your anniversary!!
Congrats on your milestone! As always...love your stuff :)
Ideas....( cottage related for some reason )....must be that time of year!!!
Going for the first dip of the year (very similar to a polar bear dip)
Baiting a line with a worm
Catching frogs, crayfish, or snakes and making 'homes' for them
Relaxing in the hammock
Playing horseshoes, bacci ball or badminton
Skinny dipping by the light of the moon
Reading the Saturday Globe dockside ( a personal fave )
The last swim of the season....you just never want to get out!
My two cents....See you friend!
Sarah
that illustration is fabulous! I am going to feature it on my blog The Little Foodie. I hope you don't mind :)
o.k, for a concrete idea I would love it if you illustrated a baby eating dirt (my baby girl) or what ever other thing babies eat.
I think thank you cards are a fantastic idea!
Here are few more I could think of:
- all things boys (trucks, lego, dirt, no underpants, peeing outside, rock collecting, bugs, etc)
- all things girls (stickers, barbie shoes, sparkles, hair clips -- you'd be better at this one than I would)
- I think you should continue your alphabet theme and eventually put together an alphabet print. I think A should be artichoke or abacus!
- Schedule charts because they all look like some power point horror e.g. water on, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, rinse, water off
- A colour series. Do ecru!!!
That should keep you busy for about 10 minutes ; ) You're a machine!
Congratulations on the birthday!!
Love Amy
Happy Birthday! Will you draw me a new pair of shoes?
I think your drawings are fabulous!! I love them all and look forward to seeing each new picture that you do. You are one talented lady! Keep up the good work!
I think you shoud consider drawing LAUNDRY....tons and tons and piles and piles of laundry because I know with kids it is never ending!
i would love to see your take on a gaint! sam is always talking about and pretending to be a gaint. there is not a day that goes by that i do not have a gaint in the house, he is even growing his own magic beanstalk!! love your work!
