A thing for the mail, man.
Carolyn Oddity #456: even though I spend hours every day online, I love getting snail mail.
I'm not sure when my obsession started, but I think it was during my first maternity "leave" (being self-employed), when I lived in a very ho-hum neighbourhood without a second car in the family. I was housebound without so much as a single donut shop to trudge to.
Needless to say, I would run for the door every day at the sound of the mailbox slamming shut just to see if a new magazine, card or package (rarely) had arrived to break the monotony of my day.
(Perspective ... I also wasted 6 months of perfectly good Oprah time avoiding having the television on lest it pollute my infant's brain. I know, I know. I was new, OK?)
Any how, my heart still races at the sound of the mail arriving. The other day, I opened the door to supplies for all of the magnets I'm going to make, this month's Everyday Foods and a handful of real estate postcards. Totally worth the sprint upstairs for this weirdo.
Thing is, I know I'm not the only one.
When my husband works from home, he usually beats me to the mailbox.

I love the main too, but it is SO boring most days.
I guess it's just those exciting days that we live for, right?
